Alpha

What is Alpha?

Alpha changes lives! More than eight million people have attended an Alpha Course worldwide. It was established at Holy Trinity Brompton in London twenty years ago, and there are now more than one thousand churches involved in running Alpha courses all over New Zealand.

The Alpha course is a ten-week opportunity to explore the validity and relevance of the Christian faith to your life today.

Each Alpha night starts with a two-course meal together. This is followed by a DVD talk on a subject central to the Christian faith. Subjects such as… “Who is Jesus Christ?”…, “Why did Jesus die?”…, “Why and how do I pray?”…, and “How does God guide us?”…. Participants then break into small groups to discuss the talk. These group sessions are very interesting and usually a great source of fun! Each person is free to ask or express whatever they wish and each view point is totally respected.

Who is Alpha For?

Alpha is for everyone. It particularly caters for:

  • people seeking spiritual meaning
  • those wanting to investigate Christianity
  • new Christians
  • newcomers to church life
  • those who want to brush up on the basics.
